Note from Deane Juhan:
The following article was not written by me. It was forwarded to me by a friend and client. But the message is so resonant with me, and so beautifully written, that I wanted to share it with you all. The issues raised here have long been close to my heart and mind. Bodyworkers are not just pain/restriction healers, but emissaries of touch in a touch deprived, touch-illiterate culture. We have a contribution to make to our society at large, and it is an extremely important one. Richard Kearney has put his finger (pun intended) on many issues that bear on the consequences of touch deprivation, and the cultural inheritance that has perpetuated it. Enjoy, and share it widely.
